Can 2 Beardies live together?

Cintex Jul 13, 2003 02:45 PM

I know sometimes there are conflicts between the 2 beardies if they live together but can I raise 2 babies together in my 4'x 2'x 2' tank? If raised from juvies, do you think they wont fight as much. I wanted to get 1 hypo and 1 orange/red. Thanks.

It's possible. First I would suggest that you got two females. If you want to keep them together full time, this woudl be the only combination you could safely have a chance of doing that with. You may want to start them in a smaller tank, or at least have a smaller feeding tank. It's gonna be hard for little dragons to hunt down food in something so big, and it's gonna be hard for you to find the stray crickets and remove them from something that big.

Sounds good. Yeah, my late Aussie WD baby sometimes had a hard time getting his food. Good thing i have a 10gal and 20gal tank lying around. Im gonna keep them in the large tank from the start though, i think its easier. Ill just move them for food.
Only problem is, most juvies are unsexable. And id rather get 2 juvies than 2 sub-adults. I want to see my "little-ones" grow into full adults.

Well, i've gotten my beardies as juvies and they were all properly sexed. Of course, i've only ever had males, and it is easier to sex young males. 2 of the dragons, and a friend's came from the Dachiu's and Rob does an excellent job sexing those tiny beardies. Another dragon I got from a petshop. The dragon from a petshop I wanted to get a male, but it was not sexed. I simply picked the one who had taken the best basking spot and was the biggest. I picked correctly and got myself a male. You can get properly sexed females, but it's a little harder. You may want to get them a little bit bigger, the bigger you go the better chance you have of getting what you want.
