baby alligator snapper questions.

m1ke386 Jun 06, 2005 11:54 PM

Hi, I just recently purchased a young alligator snapping turtle. I've done my research on them, and know the basics. but i thought i would come here to people who actually own these turtles. The turtle is about 2 in, and is in a 20 gallon long tank with about 3 in of water. i have a fluva 2 series filter in the tank. is this ok? I'm feeding him frozen rosy reds, guppies, sand eels, and a frozen turtle food that has d3 in it. is this ok? any other food ideas would be great. how often should he be eating? and, how often should i change the water? i was going to do a partial change once a week. Thanks for your help.

Mike.

Hey Mike,
Congrats on your ally! It sounds like you are doing fine on the tank and filter. With a 20L, you have enough room to make a part of the tank a little deeper, to give it the option of water depth. Put some kind of fake floating plant, or something that it can get under to feel safe. I resonded to a post up the page some that is related to food you might want to read.
Good luck!
