Cage Setup

Simplest_Mistake Jun 07, 2005 12:50 AM

I am working on getting a cage set up for my young ball, and I need some suggestions. I want to make it very nice...with climbing branches and stuff. Does anyone have any pictures of there Ball Python cage setup? Whats the best substrate? Lighting?...I currently have a heating pad underneath the cage set on low...does he need a UV or heat lamp too? Also, what is the best size and material for the cage? I saw on one web site it said a 10 gal for an adult (sick huh? Stuffing a 4 ft snake in a 10 gal)...all the way up to 75 gal. So...whats the best size...50 gal?

I have a 75 gallon. I used some indoor/outdoor carpet with rubber backing and built a shelf with hide box on one side. I wish I had the talent to make a rock wall with caves or something more elaborate like that. I've seen some really nice setups in the galleries here.

very nice setup. I am currently attempting to put in a shelf (like one side of what you have in yours). I do have a question on it, how do you have the carpet on the shelf? Is the carpet free standing or tacked down somehow? Also how thick is the wood that you used on it?
