Head room? Placement of perches?

AbsoluteApril Jun 07, 2005 11:36 AM

Hey forum, this is probably a silly question but...
I was setting up the quaratine tubs last night for my
new arrivals tomorrow and was about to start drilling when
it hit me.. how high is too high to place the perches?
I am using some rubbermaid tubs, very basic set up with water
bowl, fake vine, papertowel substrate to make sure there's no
mites and cross/hatch perches. How much head room does an adult
GTP need? The male of the pair is CB01 but I don't know much
more about his size than that. Approx how many inches of
top head room would be needed? I was thinking 2"? I don't
want to place the perch too high and then have the snake not
be able to use it comfortably. Thanks, I am off to read thru all the old pages on this forum.. again!

i have not had the fun of using tubs yet... but i will once i start producing babies...

in my opinion i would put the perches a little higher then middle of the cage if you are looking from the side...

this will allow plenty of room..

here is another idea for a tub........

Ophiological Services is a long time line established by Eugene and Cindy Bessette. There site is http://www.ophioservices.com/overhead.htm

There are some pretty nice HY snakes that have come from the OS line... including this snake of mine which is still my favorite and the first "designer" I purchased. He's over 3 years old now and I purchased him as a little baby!!
