Central pics for Celia and anyone else who cares to peak

giantkeeper Jun 07, 2005 11:52 AM

I obviously cannot touch the Pewter, but eventually we will have our own cool centrals.....Maybe a Bloody Leopard....yeah in 20 years....

Our 2001 Leopard Male

Our male poss het Blood Boa (producing sperm plugs @ 1 year of age)

A crazy central american female we had for a short period of time

And a crappy picture of her daughter who is now 14 months old.

My point is these Central American boas, regardless of localle, are very unique, and there should be at least one in every collection

Those guys look great, I realy like the one with the load of saddles!

Question: How can you tell the little male is producing sperm plugs? I have been breding boas for years but don't have a clue on this...LOL... I would appriceate the info.

Thanks, Ed

times of the season, our males will start generating sperm plugs, and soaking in the water to relieve (for lack of a better word)themselves of the build-up. It will look like a two headed milky worm....lol that will branch off from 1 piece. Generally, our males will not start doing this for several more months, but then again, they are usually 18 months and older (with one exception a 14 month old Hypo Male). I wish I would have taken a picture of this, and will the next opportunity I have. Hope this helps even a little.

It is relatively common that CA's mature sexually quicker than Colombians, but I have never seen it quite as young as this 1 male.

he's adorable! Only 16 weeks huh? They sure do grow fast! Bauer's about 7 1/2 months now. He's still a big goober...so goofy all the time! We weighed him a couple of weeks ago. I thought he would weigh in at 65 pounds or so...he didn't even hit 60! He was only about 57 pounds. I couldn't believe it! I don't even have to bend down to pet him anymore LOL.

Thanks for sharing the picture of Capone!

I love that weird patterned female and the poss het blood is looking great! I can't believe the little guy is producing sperm plugs already...I guess it's safe to say he'd be ready to go at 18 months! lol
Take care,
Amanda

I guess it makes sense, though since you'll have to wait for the females to be old enough to prove him out anyway. But it's good to know he'll be ready when they are! lol

she was probably the neatest boa to look and rather thick and large for what she was. But one thing is for sure, by far the meanest boa, or any other snake I have ever worked...I will shoot a new picture of her daughter and post it up top....I am really do not like the picture I posted here because it sucks for representation! Oh, and she is no where near as mean as her mother
