Dome Reflectors

Solaris16 Jun 07, 2005 12:41 PM

Hi Everyone,

I have never used a dome reflector on the lights in my iguana's cage, but am wondering what the benefit to using one is? She is under a 160 watt PowerSun and doing very well, but do these domes increase the amount of UVB that is directed at her basking spot? Any answers would be great...

Hmmmm, honestly, i have no idea if UVB rays can be redirected. I dont see why that wouldnt work. When people go out tanning, they use those reflectors to make sure they get an even tan on their face...isnt that basically the same thing?

Maybe this will help: http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/gbssci/phys/Class/light/u12l1a.html

Have fun!

You only need domes and such for lamps without their own built-in reflectors. Your Powersun does have that feature. The various reflector lamps have different spreads, the spot being the most narrow spread. No, your Powersun does not neeed a dome.
