First day outside

AlteredMind99 Jun 07, 2005 01:10 PM

Well today it was finally warm enough to bring Hanny outside for an hour. Boy did she love it! She turned dark dark dark and just sat their soakingin the rays! Since we have a couple of health problems right now i think the natural sunlight will help her a little bit.

Awwwww.... i remember when i first brought Feng-shou outside, she didn't quite know what to do! After some bathing, she burrowed into some high grass(not high to us, but high to her). lol

how old were your beardies when you first took them outside? I want to take Drayko outside so bad but hes still somewhat small and i don't want him to take off! I have had him outside in a tank before but he couldn't get in the direct sun or anything (didn't want the sun shining through the glass and cook him. It was just a nice day out so i took his tank out and put it on the porch for him to get some fresh air.

Would it be ok to take him out in a decent size field and let him roam? I'm sure i can catch him if there is no place to hide. Hes not to afraid of me. He will sit on my shoulder while i walk around the house.

I would not recomend letting them roam, especially that small. I keep mine on a leash at all times outside. They are different animals when they are scrambling around in the grass. At least, mine is. My beardie is really really tame and mellow but when she is in the grass and you go to pick her up she gets very scared and tries to bite and run.

Even if she didn't...that is a really small beardie and they can move pretty fast when they want to. I would buy a reptile leash at your local pet store

You can also bring him out in a mesh cage like a reptarium with a branch in to bask on. The mesh will allow airflow so he doesn't cook. As long as you stay with him and position the cage so he has sun and shade, he shuld be fine

Hmmm they will have a leash that small? Won't they hate that leash too? I can't imagine mine liking a leash at all.

I bought i leash for Feng, but she won't fit in it until she's almost full-grown. Right now i just take her out and watch her.

Took mine outside last week as well

I don't use a leash but i just let him hang out on the hot tub lid on a spare t-shirt or something... he loves it and doesn't really go anywhere. just hangs out keeping an eyes on us
