Hi, i finally found the crested gecko diet and i was wondering how much should i feed my gecko since he's still a baby? He is eating it, but not all of it. Is there a specific amount to feed according to the size/age of the gecko?

He's now in a new setup, i'll take pics and post them as soon as i can

Thanks for all your help

They will eat until they are full. There is no specific amount to feed, just use your best judgement based on size. You don't want to fill something the size of a peanut butter jar lid with diet for a baby. For babies I use something the size of a water bottle cap.
good luck

If it is just a baby and you plan on continuing use of the sandfire diets, you might want to try and get the gargoyle gecko formula. It has a higher protien content and will result it faster growth rate if that is what you are after. You can order it online at LLL reptile supply I think.
good luck

Thanks, that sounds great I am wondering though, when feeding this diet can i also give crickets, say couple times a week? I remember a set of posts descibing the comparison of growth on the diet and using crickets/babyfood. What i don't recall is what i should expect from him if i'm giving him Only the diet, or if i also supply a few crickets now and then.

I've searched for a scale everywhere and i'm still looking, so when i do eventually get one what type of weight gain should i see after 2-3 months of the diet?

Thanks again

Of course you can keep crix in the diet. I offer crix once a week to cresteds I know I'm going to sell, just to make sure they eat them. According to feeding trials that Allen Repashy( the formulator of the diets) did, Cresteds raised on the GGD had fast growth rates than a cricket based diet.

Red,
That topic was between bill and I actually =). All crix fed crested geckos showed substantially faster growth compared to meat/fruit baby food diets. However compared to the CGD I can’t say. No one has been using it long enough beside Allen to show those results. So you are just going to have to take his word for it. If it is everything he says it is I would imagine it to be close. But keeping crix in the diet will def not hurt, fun to watch them hunt anyway .
