How do you all watch your geckos at night? I just glance at them with a flashlight because it is so glaring I hate to shock them.

I use a flashlight too but I covered it with several layers of red cellophane and wrapped it around with a rubber band. The red light that results is much easier on the gecko's eyes, they don't seem to freak out when I do this.

Hope this helps

I dim down the lights in my gecko room.

no flash lights as I'm too lazy to try and hunt that route.

Mine never seem to move at all until the lights have been out completely for quite a while. Well, the sikorae and phantasticus are quite a bit more active, but the fimbriatus and henkeli just sit around for the longest time.

I keep them low enough that I can barely see in the area. Also, high enough that it does bother them much. all of my uroplatus seem to freeze when they feel me coming near. I figure it has to do with the fact that I am a giant monkey making a lot noise and they can feel and hear me pressence before I get there.
