Regarding Quarentine

OC-Balls Jun 07, 2005 07:39 PM

I'm looking to purchase my first Leos in the near future.

Can someone explain in detail how they go about quarentine.
Do they need to go into a seperate room, or are seperate tanks good enough?

Thanks,
Ken

Well another room is better, but alot of people don't have the room so just as long as the gecko is is another tank it outa be fine.
Keep the gecko seperated from other herps for a minimum of 60 days. Get a fecal done by a vet (about $15-25) and watch carefully to make sure that the gecko is healthy and eating. If your only get one gecko quarantine isn't needed since your not going to put him in the cage with another herp. It's mainly to protect the other geckos from getting sick and your other herps.

Also make sure you're not sharing anything between them. No sharing dishes or anything, even after you wash them, just to be safe. And make sure you wash your hands very well (antibacterial, ect) after handling them.
