One of my recently collected corns laid her eggs today..........

Hoppy Jun 07, 2005 09:16 PM

Last week when I went out road cruising two of the four female corns that I found were gravid. The larger of the two gravid females laid her eggs today. 17 perfect big eggs, no slugs. As soon as she sheds I will post a few pictures of her, she is the oddest of the corns that have ever caught. She has an almost pweter ground color with deep red saddles. Her belly has a lot of Red/orange bleed through and you can see two distinct, but faded striped down her back. She is hard to describe, when I first saw her on the road, I thought that she was just a poorly colored corn snake, but once I took a closer look I realized that she had fantastic color, it just seems to be covered with a layer of this grey/silver/pweter color all over. The two stripes is a bit confusing too, but once she sheds out I will post some pictures of her. But the 17 eggs is a plus and I am curious as to what the babies will look like (seeing I have no idea what daddy looks like LOL). If anyone has a corn that sounds like it might have a similar look please post a pic for me.
Thanks

Todays 17 eggs has brought my total eggs up to 84 now with two more first clutches to go and I expect 3 of the snakes to double clutch still this season (they always do) come late July, early August, I am going to be pulling my hair out trying to feed baby corns LOL. Boas are so much easier to start off then baby corns, but at least I am not trying to feed a bunch or Solomon Island Boas LOL.
Thanks

I would love to see pics of her when you get a chance, she sounds gorgeous. Congrats on the eggs too!

Just kidding...and you're right...SIGB's do suck to get started. Do you have any? My female solomon isle gr. boa eats f/t fuzzies but at her current growth rate, she may breed until 2020!

Are you expecting any boas or did they already arrive? I kicked myself for not grabbing some from you last year. Oh well....I guess I'm lucky...I only have about a dozen corn eggs due to hatch so I won't be too bogged down with feeding this year....except for the 20 fh BP's I'm struggling with and the 20 fh Nicaraguans I'm expecting in a few weeks. ugh!

Well...I can't wait to see what hatches out of those eggs...should be a nice surprise.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the Okeetee, I couldn't possibly be more happy with him.

You're very welcome! I am so glad to hear that you are happy with him. He truly is a great corn snake and an even better pet. I'll miss using him for herp presentations. I only have another week to go before school is done for the summer and then I'll have much more time on my hands. I hope to post some pics of some amazing corns I've acquired over the past year. oops...gotta run
