While I was at work, one of my little hatchlings hatched. She got out of the little plastic container the eggs are in, in the incubator. She got up into the thermostat, got stuck, and was nearly dead when I got home. I had to take the incubator apart to get her out, and she died in my hand. I didn't even think she'd be out of the egg yet. She had just pipped early this morning.
On the other hand, the first one to hatch, a tiny little preemie that i didn't think would make it this long is still hanging on. I also have a healthy little sunglow male who hatched out this morning. He is doing great.
I had at least 4 more eggs that had pipped this morning. I don't know if the little gal's thrashing around in the thermostat may have frightened them back into theirr eggs, or what, but they have all entirely retreated, and are not re-emerging. Do you s'pose they will come back out? Now I am worried about them........
