Syth's Vet Visit

ramanth Jun 08, 2005 08:09 AM

The vet visit went well.

Syth got a lot of attention in the waiting room. Must be people don't see many geckos. *laughs*

Syth was a good boy and held very still for his exam.

He only weighs 5 oz.

It was an abcess. Because of his size, Dr. Beasley was hesitant to lance it, afraid that his little body couldn't take it. He wanted me to give him antibiotic injections at home and I got a bit queasy thinking about sticking a needle in Syth. *eeks*

He showed me how to do it and the doc could tell I wouldn't be able to handle it, so he checked the abcess again and decided to lance it.

Syth was an extra good boy and held still while Dr. Beasely made two little incisions and scooped out all the gunk that was in him.

For the next ten days I have to hand feed him a special diet, let him soak for 10 minutes, and then squirt an antibiotic into the wound site, twice a day.

The poor guy was so sluggish after that injection, but he looked good this morning and behaved while I fed, bathed, and medicated him.

There was also a little poop on his butt so he's functioning normally, thank goodness.
Thanks for all the support.
