Breeding RETF

ISH May 17, 2003 04:54 AM

I have cycled and am trying to breed my CB red eye tree frogs. I keep the 2 females and 3 males in a 29 gallon tank that has a waterfall system and a misting system going on. I have been feeding them crickets regularly and the temp is around 80 and the humidity is at 80-100%. Last night and about 2 months ago two went into amplexus but not for a very long time and of course no eggs. I keep my water at a slight acidic level just below 7 pH. Any ideas on what I could do to encourage the females to lay there eggs? Do I seem to be doing everything okay or do I need to make some changes.

Hey,

I think that you need a PVC pipe rain bar over your tank, check out my site link below and look on the tank links to seea bout rain chambers. Another thing is, red-eyes lay their eggs of leaves, do you have any live plants? I would add lots of pothos and see what happens with the rain bar also. I bet you will have eggs soon if you do these.

i don't see the link at the bottum of your post. could you post it again. I believe that my misting system is creating enough rain to trigger their breeding my only questions is how often during the day should I have the rain going. I usually do it for about 5-10 minutes 2x a night. What should the temp of the water be. Just curious.

Sincerely,

ISH

Hello,

I have my rain in my rainchamber running 4 times a night for an hour and a half ( 1 1/2 ) at a time....

I'll try making it rain more in my chamber and see if that works. Do you have a certain time when you make it rain that seems to work. For example I have my rain machine turn on at 10 pm and then at 10:30pm.

thanks
