NEW MORPH??? Need some help please..........

TSKinc Jun 08, 2005 03:04 PM

Looking for some help here from everyone. We would really like to hear from Tracy Barker, Amir & Mike Wilbanks as well. We have had this snake for a long time now. It is a female and she is the meanest ball python you would ever want to meet! In 2001 we bred her with a Mojave and produced a cross. So we figured she was possibly a dominant or co-dominant, but we did not produce one that looked like her so we just decided to wait and breed her again in the future with the Mojave and see if we got the same results. Well this was the season that she produced again. This time we got 8 eggs. 2 morphs, 2 crosses, 2 Mojaves, 1 normal and a slug. So this is cool and now we are trying to decide if she is something new or if someone already has something similar and it has a morph name already. We never had her as a baby so I do not know what she looked like as a youngster but as an adult she is very nice looking. Real faded head with yellow and you can see how the body looks. Nothing like a normal adult ball python.

This group photo shows the Mojave at 9 o'clock, normal at 12, morph at 3 and the Mojave cross at 6.

The offspring morph looks real clean and has a spot on the head and the sides are nice as well.

I have heard a few opinions from people who have seen her in person but I would like to put this out there to hear what you think. Is it new? Does it need a name or does it exist? Thanks in advance for your input.

RicK has fire ball?

Herpquest Jun 08, 2005 07:35 PM

Congrats on a nice clutch. What does the belly of the 'offspring morph' look like?
The adult female has a vague Fireball look to her, but all our adult female Fires have very light heads and very little if any black on their bodies. The belly colour should also be clear and white, extending to, and up the sides. Eric Davies

I would like to know what you really think. Thanks David

You're 'wannabee' Fire is a nice Yellow Belly! Eric

snakebstr Jun 09, 2005 10:16 AM

I knew it was at least what people were calling a yellow belly, But in my opinion it was a really nice looking yellow belly compared to the other ones I had seen. It really didn't matter to me what it was because I only paid 30.00 for it when it was a baby. I may have made a big mistake though because I just traded it off for a male yellow belly. But the reason I traded it was the fact I knew I had to wait 2 more years to breed the female and I could breed the sub-adult male I traded it for this winter or maybe even NOW. But anyway Thanks for the information, David

So is there any sort of a border or does the white just fade up the sides? Is it white even more than the 3 belly scales wide? The males look the same as the females, right?

TSKinc Jun 09, 2005 07:14 AM

The bellies are clear white no markings at all. They are real nice have to wait for a shed to see how they look afterwards.

Thanks

Dan

Looks Like a LESSER(6 o'clock one).....really does look like one!!!

COOL!

But we could just make up some silly name for it and rename the SAME morph over and over again.... at that rate we can double the amount of morphs out there in a single day!

Dan, don't go and make another white snake now!! That would just be AWFUL!!!

Piss.

Oh, I meant PEACE!

Satanic Santa LIVES!

Looks like you went through a lot of trouble to make a Lesser.
You could have just bought one from Ralph.
I'm just pulling your leg Dan.
The adult is similar to my Flame Hypo and the offspring as well, although they are darker than the Flame Hypos.
The cross is very interesting.
What is the sex on the cross??
Here is a pic of tyhe Flame Hypo.

We got a pair of them this season. We will wait for them to shed and post pics then, I do not think they are the same but we will see.

Thanks

Dan

I agree with Amir, the head does like like a Fire Ball.. I have a female here that looks similiar to yours, unfortunately she laid only 1 good egg a week ago (along with 4 slugs-damn) so unless I am extremely lucky I doubt I'll figure her out this year. I'll include her pic, it's not a great pic (need a better camera, 2.1 isn't good enough) but you can tell she's not a normal by comparing her to the het pied that I bred her to.. Good luck with that animal Dan , take care, Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles.
