I need some advice from the experts.....

callmedaddie Jun 08, 2005 07:18 PM

Someone had stated that both Reticulated Pythons and Boas have the same temperment. Now I know both species can be tamed down pretty gooad and that both species can bite. But in your opinion which species is naturally less agressive? I'll post this question in the boa forum also to see what kind of responses we get. Thanks in advance for your help.

It would also be nice to hear from someone that keeps multiple numbers of both.

I think that retica are naturally more agressive if that's the word you want to use for it. There are exceptions to every rule, but most boas calm down with little or no effort on the part fo the keeper. Retics are less forgiving of mistakes. In fact I would say that retics are nothing like boas.

I agree completely with bbaily!

I have a Super Dwarf x Jampea, who is about the size of a young boa, 5 feet, though slimmer. He is very tame, and yet acts nothing like any of the Boas I've known. He is food aggressive like any Retic, but also what I would consider Boa tame, for once he realizes there is no food involved, he's very sociable and usually comes right to the hand. However, as friendly as he is, he's much more curious and active than most Boas I've handled, never offers to bite, but he is always on the move, checking out smells and sights.
