pricing on babies....

danya Jun 08, 2005 08:08 PM

now that eggs are hatching, i've got to think more about selling them... the father is a hypo high yellow with a small amount of carrot tail (about a half an inch worth)
the mother is normal looking, but het for lavender and throws lavenders mostly (bought from a friend, saw the babies)

the first baby is very young still, only born friday but shed once... lost a lot of black in the first shed and is a very very bright yellow.
still 6 eggs left to see how they turn out.

i'm thinking about pricing for the babies when i sell them, either privately or to a very nice family owned pet store. i dont want to be high priced, but a lot of time and money went into these guys that i don't really want to just throw away, so i can continue this. truth is tho, i really don't know what would be considered fair... at reptile shows, normal babies sell for about 15 bucks each... but the next step up from that is like 35-50 for any kind of morph. if someone wants to breed with a lot of diversity, but keep away from the extremely expensive morphs, these guys would definitly bring some surprises....

what do you guys think, any advice is appreciated! to whoever breeds- how much do you sell your babies for, and what are they?
all my babies are incubated for females.

Well the babies are going to me very normalish so you will not get anywhere near 50 bucks each..... I would say try to sell them for between 15 and 25 buck.....

One thing you need to know about breeding is that you will never get back even close to what you put into them unless you are breeding a popular or sort after morph.....
