It is called the Ebony Uromastyx (U. alfredschmidti). He's got a few and is attempting to breed them this year. Check out his website to see them!

Sunfox, Doug isn't the quickest with getting around to emails and internet so his website is a little behind his work. Here is a discussion about the first Alfredschmidti or Flavifasciata hatchlings still with little known about either species. Hopefully this will be a more common species in years to come. I would imagine you will see more imported now. On another note, how are your eggs doing?

I spotted them on his website actually. They were in with the bandeds so he suspects they're "mutts' but he's hoping to get some "purer" babies from them.
The eggs seem ok so far (there's been no foul odours at all). They started to collapse 2 days ago and I've since rehydrated them so I hope they'll be ok. I'm keeping an eye out for mold. They're due in about another 3 weeks so I'm getting a little anxious.
When (and if) they hatch, I'll post an announcement right away.
Thanks for the discussion link.

Sunfox,
I uploaded a few photos in the photo gallery of the clutch recently produced from a pair of these black uromastyx.
Are they available for sale?
Thanks,
John
I will probably keep these for a while and select several from the group for my own stock. The rest will eventually be offered to reputable breeders who might be interested in establishing a breeding pair in their collection.
I am not a big breeder; I primarily do this for the experience and research.
Here's a link to photos of some of the black uros we got for our customers last year.

Urotopia Uromastyx

They kind of look like my female mali. I heard that Ebony uromastyx have more attitude than the standard uro. It makes me wonder if Isis is at least part Ebony, she's pretty [bleep]y (what an attitude!)

For what it is worth-
I have six adults from this group and I do not find their personality to be any more aggressive or ornery than any of my other uromastyx.
The female that had the clutch has remained aloof since laying but the others will all approach me inquisitively and can be picked up rather easily.
I find the personalities calm compared to the white banded flavifasciata I own several of which would rather bite than retreat.
