Maybe we should force them to put out this poll for "Equal Time".

Would you want the government with its WELL KNOWN RECORD of MISHANDLING AND MISUSING DANGEROUS MICROBES to have the total monopoly on the keeping of venomous reptiles?????!!!!!!

Ya know it's really interesting since I've been here in Israel everyone I've spoke to about my collection. No one is freaked out about it,including the women, (drool...drool)they are mostly interested in my collection and excited about my hobby.

As the poll shows the attitude is just aweful in the USA. Maybe time to take me & my collection to somewhere other than the USA.

The Senate voted to allow law enforcement to use survalence without a cort order. Snakes are just the tip of the iceberg, we are loosing many rights.

Yeah supposedly for "terrorist" investigations, Ive thought about being an expat myself, Belize seems stable enough and its still attainable!
In CA. we already have/had bans in place for quite awhile, exotic permits are issued but you have to be a celebrity to get one ($$$)Gilas require permitting and cinctum are just plain not available to the citizen because the sp. has a few isolated pop. along the Nevada border and occurs in the state.
Native crotalus are allowed but thats it, nothing else, unless you have an exotic permit ($300) than you can have non-natives. I personally only work with crotes and helos so I dont really mind the limitations that much, I am happy to get the permits I have and ask for no more since I know all too well how backwards our state and federal governments can be.
It is really too bad, on one hand I believe we should have the right to own a mamba, bitis or whatever starts your motor, but on the other, I see posts from people about hots and I think to myself how happy I am that that person is not MY neighbor. My biggest fear is that someone nitwit will use a venomous snake as a murder weapon against a politician or celebrity and THAT WILL BE THAT NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
I know its been done before between average citizenry, but get a "NAME" involved and were done.

My warped perspective anyways...

Cheers
Brett

A friend of mine that used to live there recently moved back because of mounting political and social instability. Evidently the government blew a lot of peoples' money on some sort of scam or something...and now, not surprisingly, a lot of people are pissed. It's really unfortunate too. I greatly enjoyed visiting them last year and trying my first hand at tropical herping. Maybe things will settle down though.

The folks we know down there, had a horrible time with the government while starting their lodge, but they made it through the BS and now they have a stellar operation in the middle of the rainforest. I'll be staying up here but it sure would be nice!
