How easy is it to find FL kings by lake okeechobee

my mom asked me where i want to go for a week on vacation and she is OK with me looking for snake and i tood her about what i have herd about the suger cane fields by lake okeechobee and now i have a chance to go. i live in tampa most of the year so it will be a drive but should be lots of fun. when we go on vacation like this we will camp in a park ( state or county)it more fun and alot cheaper so is there any parks,nice farmers(with some land) or roads with lots of fl kings , i would like to add this i am not go to keep anything i find just lots of pic's. if any one has pic's of wc fl kings please post them

Well, it is pretty easy in the Winter and Spring. That is the time most go looking for them. There are there in the Summer, but I imagine that it would have to be pretty early in the morning to see many of them. Just walk the canal banks and look around the rock piles. You should see lots of watersnakes and garters, too.

is there exact areas down there to go to which part of lake okeechobee (north,south,east,west) just any thing to help me tell my mom where i would like to go looking

Like the above stated, it is much wiser to choose that area for winter and early spring as the plant growth along the banks makes it very difficult to find anything during summer and fall even if it is out and about. And any of those areas are the same, just watch your step as cottonmouths are there in some places also. Most people seem to go south of the lake but any place is good as long as the bank looks good with rocks and holes.
