Anybody here use Rhino Raxx for their boas?

silenthill Jun 09, 2005 12:07 PM

I was planning on getting 2 421D boaphile cages for my 5ft bolivian and 26inch suri. But then I looked at their racks and noticed that the ball room raxx are good for boas up to 6ft. So I'm thinking on getting the rack which will save me $200 vs the cages plus I will have 2 more spots for more boas.

I use them and I love them, however I do keep all my adult females in the 4 foot cages.

I've been using Boaphile for years... for all my stuff.. and lately starting getting some Rhino Raxx.. they seem soo much stronger, and some are a bit bigger too... Overall, I love them too! Getting more really soon

Those are the only racks I use, and there is a reason. They are GREAT! Set them up on a Helix proportional and you are set!

The ball room is the biggest rack they make right?

my 4.5' albino male is about max in that rack, and before to long Ill be moving him to a 36"x24" cage (boaphile as well, not sure of the model number).

IMHO there is no way I would put a 6 footer in there and I really wouldnt want to put any over 5' for sure, but thats just me

I went to target today to see the sterlites, and I wouldn't be comfortable keeping a 5ft boa in there let alone a 6ft.

Ya, Im moving the 4.5' animal to a bigger enclosure as soon as I get my heat tape in! I would say the ball room rack is good for boas UP to 4.5'. He is comfortable as of now, but at the point that when he grows a bit more, that may not be the case

My verdict is 4.5' or less ...

I e-mailed them and they did say it would house a 6ft boa comfortably. He's been breeding boas for over 10yrs so he knows what hes talking about. I'm considering the racks again.

This guy is 4.5' long, and Im going to move him into a larger enclosure as soon as Im done posting this (My heat tape just showed up)

Is it a quality rack? Also where do you keep the thermometer and thermostat prob?

Ji_ Jun 11, 2005 06:42 PM

Hands down, I love it, Im going to purchase another as well as some neonate racks from him soon. Ya really just cant beat the boaphile racks!

How tall is the tub?
it seems like it would be okay for boas under 5', what I am thinking here is small males. I would keep females in something bigger, since they are typically much more heavily bodied than the males. Just my opinion... Personally I like to have 12-14" of head room for boas, 'course I have no idea if they care or not.
