lele Jun 09, 2005 01:30 PM

I need to find a screen for Darwin's new 75 gallon tank and figured I'd ask you guys as well as bd forum. The dims are 48"x18" I have found the plain metal, but wondering if they make them hinged lengthwise. Anyone know?

Looks like I have lots of catching up to do!! later ...

Lele, I don't know if this will be of much help, but I made my own screen tops for my BD enclosures out of 1/4" hardward cloth, sandwiched between two frames. It's worked quite well and sturdy enough to support the weight of lighting and various other items.

You could make a wood frame for both the top and for a rim around the top of the tank that would be easy to hinge. One or two cross pieces for strength and to support lights.

A friend who took my rescue beardie made a huge open topped terrarium out of a twin bed frame. Built up wooden sides with a couple of plexiglass windows, filled it with desert soil, logs, lava stone, etc, supported lights either clipped onto the sides or suspended from the room ceiling. The result was really great and the whole thing could be rolled around. That was one spoiled beardie!
