Hi mate
Where did you come up with that common name?! Species in the genus Pseudoxenodon are usually referred to as bamboo snakes.
Cheers

Heck, I did not make the name up, some importer or exporter perhaps made the name up? That is what they have been calling them here for the last couple years since they started to show up in shipments. Perhaps its just a fancy way to get some breeder interested in them? I did some research on them and did see that they are called bamboo snakes. In any case, it sorta resembles a false water cobra, and a hognose also. Have you tested their venom? It does look like a bamboo stick so that is what I will call it - A Bamboo False Water Cobra Hognose snake.

I suspect you're right. Some of the common names are such a headache. False water cobra is one of the worst since its for an animal that lives on a completely different continent than the water cobra! I prefer the name 'Brasilian smooth snake' over FWC. Madagascar hognosed are another crap name considering they are utterly unrelated to the American hognosed (being in a completely different family!). These sorts of names only promote confusion.

LOL!
