Considering getting a WOMA

mizzourah Jun 09, 2005 06:26 PM

Having 3 corn snakes I am considering getting into pythons. I want a smaller python that is that may be more active than ball pythons. It seems like the Woma fits the bill. Am I correct in my thinking or is there a better option?

Thanks for any advice.

Womas dont have labial pits! Go with a white lip. They are far more confrontational and active because Im sure their infra-image is much exaggerated!! Of course I dont know a damn thing. But womas never did anything for me

Once again I will suggest a Savu python. They stay under 5', eat voraciously, are much more active than ball pythons, and over time go through a gradual color change from orange to nearly all black. Plus they are semi-arboreal, and once they are comfortable will spend lots of time on a perch if you give them one. So you will have plenty of good viewing.

Womas are a good snake to consider IF: you dont mind that they resemble a kingsnake on steroids (no facial pits).
They are great to work with, easy to keep, fairly easy to breed (if that is your goal),and of course they dont get much larger than 5'-6'. All my adults are just at 6' in length at 5-6 years old. Sometimes they sleep on their side/back like a Gila or Beaded, can be alarming the first time around!
