Turtle Rocks/ Platform

Need info on safe materials and construction of a basking area for a turtle tank. I want something natural not just a piece of glass with gravel on one side. Step by steps would be ideal but any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks

ok, this will take a while to build (mainly because you have to let it outgas, or stop smelling) but it will look awesome when you're done.

start with a piece of that high density pink foam insulation you get from home depot. Put gobs of the great stuff expanding foam insulation around the outside. Once it dries, take an x-acto knife and cut it to make the design you want. Then paint over it with a primer (Gripper is what i'd use) and a satin latex paint. This will probably take a month for the great stuff to outgas...and if you put it in touch with the water before it's outgassed, it will kill your turtle.
