black backs and clear bellies?

I was wondering what the deal is with black backs and clear bellies? Is it just a desirable trait or are they het for something, dominate co-dominate? I was just wondering I see them advertised all the time. I searched the forums and read them daily but I never seen anything about them. Any comments would be appreciated.
