Hello, i have a bearded dragon right now, and i was thinking about getting another one to fill a empty tank i have, but nowi'm looking at other desert-type lizards. Can anyone point me at good sites or breeders? Is their care similiar to Dragons? Thanks in advance!

Before considering a horned lizard of any specie, please go to our web-site at phrynosoma.com and consider a few things. These lizards are not in my opinion for a novice, if you have lizard experience, you need to have a commitment out front to provide ants as a regular part of thier diet in order to maintian health or they will eventually loose their viability.
http://www.infowest.com/life/ this company can provide ants, you must read up on all the facets of keeping a horned lizard including proper lighting and substrate as well as proper cage size etc. I just want to say there are many other lizard species that are great to take care of and easier such as Chuckwallas and desert iguanas which are herbivores, and similar in ease and temprement to a bearded dragon, although some chucks can be fiesty. So before you consider the horned lizard relize there is a commitment involved to taking good care of these lizards. There is a lot of misinformation on the web and by the people that sell these lizards as well. Please read the web-site and if you have any questions please post again, and one of us will respond. As a general rule I am always cautionary with anyone, as we have seen many people purchase these lizards and they are dead in a month or two due to poor husbandry and a lack of commitment and understanding as to what is involved in keeping these lizards healthy.......Cheers!!!!

wow! great post Lou. you crushed it.

no offense to her, but that's pretty sad and reflects just the kind of misinformation and lack of information you spooke of. the ants is usually at the top of the page of any site worth it's bandwidth!
