She did it again...36 eggs

REDoaksblues Jun 10, 2005 07:00 AM

I haven't posted for a while because the heart of my heart, my Thoroughbred "Brilliant Display" (retired racehorse), passed away three weeks ago and it has been very difficult for me..but then it seems life continues on in a big way and my little Nosey B girl who just laid just laid 25 eggs two months ago...just laid 36 more big beautiful white eggs....My poor baby.....I had always heard they could have more than one clutch from one breeding but this? 36? She is now undergoing pampering extraoridinaire...mist...every insect delicacy for the next week (of course lightly dusted and gut loaded with calcium).

After this week though, I will be lowering the temp a bit and cutting back on food..she needs a break!! Can you imagine...within six or so months...60 little chams running around?

Awww...congrats! And I'm so sorry about your racehorse. Magnificent creatures I would love to own someday.

Hopefully both clutches hatch out...and take care of yourself.

Thank you..losing my friend was pretty bad and I have not been too interested in much of anything...but then my girl goes and lays eggs..she is not rallying as quick as the last time, I am not worried yet, but will feel better when I see her eat. She has drank a bunch...but after her first clutch she ate immediately...I will continue to tempt her with Gourmet insect cuisine..

Thank you for your thoughts. I think I will try that website soon..it is still too hard right now to talk about it.

This whole egg laying thing is remarkable!!! My little girl rallied today...ate every insect in sight and looked for more...She is such a trooper. We showed her husband all the eggs...and he turned blue in the face...
