shipping via UPS, FedEx, DHL...

For people that have shipped or rec'd snakes via these carriers, do y'all just package them carefully, label the box fragile, and hope it all goes well? What about holes in the box for air?

I can ship via Northwest airlines but its a min. carge of $75.

Check out www.ups.com/animals

They have updated their reptile shipping policies this year to pretty much allow for anything but snakes and crocodilians. No need to lie for lizards or turtles just mark it "Live Animal Shipment"

Also check out http://www.superiorenterprise.com/ our nonprofit rescue uses them and they have a great variety of animal shipping supplies and tips.

I haven't shipped, but I've received twice. Be advised that most shipping companies do "random spot checks" on packages, and I know of one incident where they found the snake and advised the shipper they had to come get it at once or it would be turned over to animal control.

A well known Chondro breeder once told me it's best to label the package "Harmless live reptile" and never use the S word.

Cold packs or heat packs are used according to the weather conditions and animal requirements.

My first Chondro was enclosed in a snake bag and then in a cardboard box with shredded paper cushioning...then an additional outer box with cushioning.

My second Chondro from GM was enclosed in a rubber/plastic tub with soft cushioning, then in an outer box with cushioning.

Neither snake came with hot or cold packs, but then both were shipped at ideal times of the year (late Spring).

Hope this helps?
