UPS vs Airborne..... Opinions Wanted

LeosAnonymous Jul 13, 2003 06:37 PM

Hi Everyone,

I normally ship UPS, but have been thinking about switching to Airborne due to the fact that they use temperature controlled delivery vans.

I will be shipping leopard geckos, fat tail geckos and ball pythons.

Has anyone ever had or heard of any problems with Airborne halting shipments?

Thank you for your time.

Ross,

So you are aware not all Airborne delivery vehicles are temperature controlled. AS a matter of fact most of them are not. Most delivery drivers are sub-contract help and drive their own personal vehicle that has been painted by Airborne. Airborne's prices are much higher than UPS's rates. I have used both carriers and now will only use UPS. I refuse to use Airborne at all any longer.

Thanks for the update... I have never used Airborne, but was told they all use airconditions delivery vans.

I also read that all the vechicles had A/C in the BOI.

I guess I'll just stick with UPS.

Thanks for the help.

i work for airborne express. believe me we have no a/c or temp control vans. and not all airborne express drivers are private contractors. I belong to a union and drive airborne owned vehicles. As for delivery of live animal all delivery and express companys are the same its all about price to people..i know people who only ship ups but they have a high insidence of damage packages. its all a matter oe perfernce..Good luck

Hello all,
I ship through AirBorne Express. I've been very happy with their service, although I have friends who shutter at the mention of the name....In my expirences, They are very prompt, they pick up from my residence and I've never had a customer recieve a late or damaged package (24 shipments thus far) thats not a lot but I'm trying, lol. Unless their service faulters, I will remain with this company when it comes to my shipping needs.

And I have had them delivered to the wrong address and left on the front porch (in the heat) I got lucky it was raining so the animal survived.

They have never delivered to me without some problem so I will no longer order from someone if Airborn is the only way they will ship to me.

I had a rare Big-Headed turtle shipped to me a few months ago. Shipped overnight by Airborne. Took Airborne 2.5 days; turtle arrived dead. They won't refund the cost. Stay away from Airborne, they are a lousy company.
