Is it an infertile egg?

sunfox Jun 10, 2005 01:31 PM

I found a small yellow roundish blob stuck to a pothos stem. I believe this is an infertile egg but I'm still pretty new to the whole Uroplatus thing, so I'm not 100% sure. My female has been looking a little on the fat side (the only thing that's missing is the word "Goodyear" written across her side) so I'm guessing eggs are a possibility. If this is the case, it means Diablo hasn't been doing his job.
On another note, I was wondering if putting up a small mirror on the side of the tank might make him think there's another male competing for Samael's attention. Do you guys think this may work?

Thanks for all your help everyone

Yep, sounds like an infertile egg. I don't think the mirror is really neccessary. I don't think male competion is what spurns these geckos to breed. In the wild they occur in very low population density and do not live in communal groups. People such as Mike have had success with muliple males however. To my recollection you have only had your pair for a short time. Sometimes it takes them a while to get used to each other and start breeding.
