I have my Iguana in a HUGE cage for his size but he still rubs up against the mesh trying to escape. Why does he do this and how can I stop it.
Thanks Derek

Your story reminds me of the time I built a HUGE sun cage. But all my iguanas did was go to the nearest wall and bite at the mesh. The mesh was that thin plastic but very strong, garden mesh. They invariably bloodied their lips and gums. They never managed to break a strand. I finally dismantled the sun room (8 X 8 X 6 feet).
Does his rubbing activity look like escape behavior? Can you cover the rubbing area by adding a layer of clear flexible plastic. This plastic is normally sold to people in snow climates to be made into storm/cold windows. It's perfectly clear, and is about 8 mils thick. My hardware store carries itr, and I'n not in a snow climate. Or you can cover that area with 1/8 inch acrylic. Or protective cloth might work.
Does any of that seem appropriate?
Roger
I think he is seeing the outside and he wants out (he only does it when my door is open which gives him a clear veiw of the outside.)
I will try putting a blanket over that side of the cage so he can't see the outside.
Thanks Derek
