constipated dragon???

denise1 Jun 10, 2005 05:14 PM

what could I give Smaug to get him going ( I know it's an oil) and how much of it???? don't know his weight but he's 18inches long, 6 months old...it isn't impaction., I feed him the correct size...this started after he stopped eating greens...no pet stores here have the T-Rex cricket maker...I did buy him radishes (I'll give him the tops) and blackberries which he's never had before, hoping to tempt him with new stuff....since going off his greens he's stopped pooping every day, now more like every four...this time is longer...thanks...

You can try mineral oil...im not sure how much but it shoudln't take much. Warm water soaks while gently massaging his stomach can help as well.

Not pooping can be from a variety of reasons, parasites and dehyrdration come to mind. Where your baby is so small if you don't get him to poop soon i would consider a trip to the vet. I had a constipation problem recently and it was very scary! It ended up being urate stones from her not drinking enough water.

Another approach would be to try pumpkin or sweet potato... These are natural laxatives. Both the above (mineral oil, soaking in water) work too.

thanks for the info...the one not pooping is my 6month old who is 18"...not the little one who is growing by leaps and bounds...little piggy...shouldn't be dehydration...I give Smaug water daily and he does drink a good bit...
