Need info for gravid spiny tail ig

JBrom75920 Jun 10, 2005 06:02 PM

Hello,

I have been searching for information on Spiny tailed igs and have come up with zilch...

I have a gravid female with no male. Has anyone had success with a spiny tail nesting box? Was it like a box for the green totally dark inside or like a bearded dragon where they can dig a nest with overhead lights?

And how deep does it have to be?

We really love her and do not want her to suffer being egg bound she has been digging intermittently for about two weeks. Another question does she follow the green ig model where she stops eating but is not ready to lay for about four weeks.

If anyone has any info to share we would appreciate it.

Thanks

Jack

If you are worried about how the lizard nests, you should try having both a covered and a open bucket of sand or whatever for your ig to nest in. Yeah, you REALLy dont want egg-bound! Good luck! Hope someone else can help more than I can!

I have no idea what's going on. It's more fun that way.

I believe you follow green iguana care for eggs and incubation, except keep humidity a bit lower! I know you use a sandy soil , they can have 20 to 30 eggs so ya better find out fast, LOL

Since I can not help much I would recommend you go to the
Cyclura & Ctenosaura forum, I will link you below.

They talk about spineys and other species of iggs there and there are many knowledgable people there who will help you!

I have many friends there that DO have spinys. So I wish you all the best, hope all goes well and your girl does fine
