Anyone have stackable caging systems other than homemade rack systems?

cherribomb Jun 10, 2005 06:18 PM

I've seen some around but I'm curious if anyone uses these, if they're any good, and if the stackables can hold both heat lamps/overhead fixtures and UTH's?

I'm not interested in breeding but can't deal with all my loose tanks anymore. They're totally screwing up the feng shui of my house...the flow of chi is totally off in like every room...(just playin' )

(I know...its a lot cheaper to make my own...but I'm just curious!)

I have three stackable visionariums. I hate them. Its a good Idea, but it definately has some down sides. You can use a uv light, but a regular heat lamp doesn't fit when they are stacked. A uth is out of the question because the bottoms are plastic unless you use a trex brand uth. The tank is supposed to be equivelant to a twenty long but doesn't really have the same floor space and any crickets size medium and down can get out of the ventilated corners. They don't have a lot of ventilation either And they aren't all that pretty to look at. The upsides are that they do save a lot of space and the slding front doors are nice. Also they break down and can be stored or transported easy. But this is just my opinion of them.

Thanks for the input. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the visionariums' "exclusive fake granite" finishes.

And the thought of any more loose crickets in my bedroom makes me shiver...ughhhhh...I HATE crickets...especially the one that's been in my hall closet for what seems like eternity. Sure its nice to hear them chirp on hot summer evenings but NOT when they're loose somewhere near my bed!

You can find them at herpcages.com. The reason why I chose them was because they were designed to have undertank heating, so the bottom of each cage is upraised to allow airflow. Normal heatpads will work, but it's imperative to use a reliable thermostat to maintain temps. And you can get them with a screen top for good ventilation.

Stackable cages aren't feng shui compliant for the geckos themselves. Neither are rack systems.
