Thanks Jon

Well I haven't bred boas yet so I don't know if I'm qualified to answer your question. I have bred ball pythons the past three years and from what I've heard from other breeders and my experience with BPs I would say balls are easier to breed consistantly. I'll hopefully be able to let you know for sure next year.

It's not even close. It is 10 times harder to get a good litter from a boa. You can do everything wrong and still get good ball eggs. If you do it wrong with boas....I have one word for you..

SLUUUUGGGGGGSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately...I know how to do it right.LOL

I had my first boa breeding trial this past year... I kept the male in with her for 2 months, he was done doing his business.. I sold him.. 2 months later, I didn't see a swell or anything... I backed her up with a normal male.. Months went by, I thought she reabsorbed the whatever litter she may have had... I almost got rid of her.. I decided to keep her and try again next year.. April 4th, she dropped a litter of 43 LIVE, HUGE babies, and 13 slugs.. The previous week I had definitely given up hopes and wrote her off as not taking... I kept her on a human heat pad the WHOLE pregnancy.. In my mind, I did EVERYTHING WRONG... And I ended up with a pretty full, healthy litter... Beginners luck??? Let that be your decision.. I'm now trying my hand at ball python breeding... (Hopefully I'll have the same beginners luck with that)...

...after concentrating heavily in boas through the 90's is...because boas are so much more consistent and predictable feeders, they are...even given the long gestation...that is the only diff between boas and BP's...otherwise they're about the same when it comes to patience and success at achieving live offspring....
