White Lipped Pythons?

Hayleyjmc Jun 10, 2005 09:19 PM

I'm thinking about buying a white Lipped Python, but I can't find a whole lot of information about them on the internet. If there are any owners or previous owners out there who could tell me what they know about them, from temperment to heating and humidity, to growth and adult size it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

check out Facts & Care at www.leiopython.de. Guess you get a bunch of information and feel free to ask further at the forum

hi.

My d'albertis python is not mean. Often times I will open the cage and stick my hand in and touch the snake. it wont bite. Its a nice large wild caught female too. GO figure.

Wulf,

Thank for that web page very informative, but I could not get into the care sheet part of the page. Any other suggestions?

Hi,

well perhaps you can directly go to the care sheet at http://www.leiopython.de/en/care/wlp.html

The menu section called "Care Sheets" only contains links to more or less useful pages. I guess the most comprehensive one it the link I posted above.

Wlps are not generally mean, but they are alert. Some refuse to bite anyway, but others sometime get hold of your hand or arm. Working with these beautiful and interesting animals is worth the pain

Cheers,
Wulf

I got a white lipped from a friend who took it from an ex-girlfriend. She had kept it on corn cob bedding in a type of desert setup. Not good for a high humidity loving snake. Several vet visits later, the snake came around. I would suggest 2 hide boxes at either end of enclosure, high humidity and a heat pad. Also this one was cage defensive, so use a snake hook or gloves when getting it out. Once out of the cage, no problem! Hope this helps!!
