Wax worms and giant mealworms!

jag Jul 13, 2003 07:10 PM

What is the best items to feed wax worms? I got a few at the IRBA expo in san diego, and i am not sure what they eat. I also bought soe giant mealworms, that my new leos love. Are they the same as normal mealworms?

I don't usually gutload my waxworms but if you want you can use baby rice cereal, plain yogurt, egg yolk and honey, mix it into a paste (consistency like toothpaste) and feed them but it's messy that's why most people don't gutload waxies.

Giant mealworms (aka king mealworms) are mealworms that are fed growth hormones so they get to the size of a superworm. Whereas superworms grow to their adult size naturally. I would not feed giant mealworms to any of my animals since all those hormones can't be good for them.

thanks all do that. I am going to mix them up with some normal meailes until I run out, only 100 of them, between 3 large leos, will be gone in a little time.
