We have a beautiful female C. Similis, 22", no male, who is gravid.(for the first time).Stopped eating about 10 days ago, still (very!)active and alert, digs intermittently. We keep her hydrated. We set up a separate cage with 22" deep moist sandy soil, basking and uv overhead, temp. range 80-95, she'll dig for awhile till she reaches the bottom, then stops. Anyone with experience in egg-laying C. Similis, does she usually require about 4 weeks of "not eating" before ready to lay, similar to green iguana? Or does she simply burrow down like a beardie?
will the lights overhead be a problem, does she require a totally dark nesting box? Is the soil deep enough? temp. range? We really love her...she's almost "tame"...and obviously worry about her becoming eggbound.
Please, any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
Jack
