2 new female leos from San Diego IRBA

jag Jul 13, 2003 07:27 PM

I just got back home today form the expo in san diego. Came home with 2 beatiful female leos. Both are healthy with fat tails. The first we got was a female from Rising sun reptiles. As soon as we saw her my boyfriend was like "thats the one". Her name is Sunshine do to her being so bright. I have to admit she is very beautiful. She is a tangerine albino with part carrot tail. The second we got was a Tremper Jungle albion from snake broker. She is very calm we decided to name her Serenity due to her being so calm and relaxed. Both are doing quite well for such a long journey to their final home (6 hours away from san diego). They are both sleeping in their tanks and doing great.

I'll post some pics up in a week or so after they have time to recover from the trip and get use to their surrondings.

Cool Alicia! Did you have fun at the show? It's a lot smaller than the one in October but it's still fun.

Yea, I enjoyed going. The trip was fun and even the ride. But I think my boyfriend and myself ended up in the crappiest hotel ever. NEVER EVER go to pickwick hotel on broadway and front. It was terrible. other than that it was cool.

I hae a quick question though.

WE bought the albino serenity from snake broker. I noticed when we got back to the hotel that she was shaking a little when she walked around. Later on we went back and talked to the wife (cant think of her name). And she said it was due to the calcium sand they have them on, she said she was probbily trying to get it off of her feet, and possibly scared still from the long ride they had. BUt yet she has been on paper towels since 12 noon yesterday but she is still kinda shaky, is that normal?

dragonlady01 Jul 13, 2003 10:08 PM

Hmmmm......I know my leos step on their calcium dish all the time but I don't see them walking funny ever. It's possible I guess but I doubt it. I know you already know this, shaky walk usually means calcium defiency. I would make sure she is getting enough calcium for awhile to correct the problem.

I bought 2 leos from Geckos, Etc. Steve is shipping them out for me tomorrow, can't wait to get them on Tuesday.

Thats what I asked them. I never saw my male walk like that. But they use the calcium sand it bigger kinda like rock salt size but purple. She said that they also mix calcium carbonate with it to make sure they get plenty of it especially while they shed, she is in her tank right now looking around her food bowl. I dusted her mealworms well and put extra in the bowl not including her calcium dish I also added a few crix in there too. My female we got yesterday sunshine she ate a lot lastnight 10 mealies so she is pretty full right now. I hope she is ok. They told me I could call them if she doesnt stop in a week or so. So we shall see.

I noticed last night she isnt doing it as bad, so this is good. Maybe since it was such a long trip for the leos it was making them uneasy being in the little cages. Aww u got a pair form snake broker. Hmmm I wonder if you were the one that took the make I wanted to get. You you there with your mom and it was 100 bucks for both. A very nice looking male and female probably about 25-30 grams a piece (their weight). I would have to say it was about 2:0-2:30 or so when you bought them?. If so. Thanks for buying the male. I dont really have room for him, and my boyfriend wanted it bad lol. I wanted him to, but dont have enough room yet. I need a yard sale lol.
I wish you luck and keep me informed about the shakiness in the walking.

yep that was him alright. We had left the expo, but decided to go back and pick up a rehostat for 12 bucks (how cool), and ask about the shakiness. We were even thinking about picking him up, but right when we got there you guys were talkin about getting 2 and they said to make sure u get 2 females or 1.1. Congrats. They are very nice. If you actually look on their sight, at www.snakebroker.com they might have a pic of him and her on there. Mine I bought is on there.

She kinda looks bloated in the pic but she isnt in real life, must be how she was angled.

Her ID # is 03LG103

here is a pic of my male winky

When were they born? Mine was on March 13th. In a month or so you should be able to tell, in the male if u cant see the pores atleast the bulges should be coming in about the 4-5th month. In they are both female call them and tell them and just trade, or if you really are upset im sure you can find someone to buy them. NOT ME, I would if I could. But just give them a chance.
