egg layign and breeding question and caging

tyler3400 Jun 11, 2005 03:14 PM

one of my female leos i just got layed about 2 weeks ago they seem to be doing fine at this point the only concers i have are the humidity and they are stuck together. the humidity i have it a lil more then 60. is this ok? also when i dug the eggs up they were stuck together so i lef tthem like that as of i was scared to break them.. will this be ok?

and the question on breeding is i put another one of my females into my males enclosure and he would vibrate his tail rapidly a bunch of times wihihc i was opetty sure was normal. but then he would almost try to bite her tail and he did somehting that made her mad and she bit onto side of head and liek thrashed kinda but didnt do any damage. i have herd the mating is brutal but does that sound ok? i seperated them after the.

also i am using a rubbermaid container about3 ft long 1 and a half ft. wide-2 ft and 1 /12 ft hihg. how many females could i keep in here. i already have 2.
thanks
for any help!

If your female is laying eggs, you probably should take the male out as he will continue to pester (and stress) the female. Make sure you have a laying box available for all of your girls.
The tail vibration and biting is normal. No worries unless it becomes fierce and you start to see lots of marks. I have never had a female get badly bit, enough to see any marks anyway. Your set up sounds plenty spacious for the leos you have as long as they have a good temp gradient and places to hide and feel secure, you should be fine. I would hold off on putting more in there until you are sure you will have enough space to keep all the new hatchlings you may be getting here in about 2 months! Good luck!
