MejaNica Jun 11, 2005 03:42 PM

1. How rare are these geckos still in captivity/trade in the USA?
2. Are these still being imported or via CB only?
3. Is there a viable number of bloodlines available atm? I can only find a handful of breeders online that even have ONE pair of these... so was curious.
4. Does anyone have any recommendations as to sources of obtaining a pair of these geckos (preferably on the East Coast)

Thanks again!

They are definately on the rarer side and are a kinda expensive (in my opinion anyway). While they are rare, they are always available "somewhere". I would recommend going to a retile show. On the east coast, there are PA, Maryland, and NY shows. I've been to the Maryland one which was small and had like 4 gargoyles and a bunch of cresteds and that was it. The NY one was great.....there were tons of rhacs and some well known breeders.

CB

You shouldn't have a problem finding seperate bloodlines. If you are really worried about this, you COULD just get a Pine Isle and a Mainland and then there definately won't be problems, but some people might be against this because some people don't like the idea of integration.....i find absolutely no harm in integrating.

Go to a retile show so you can see all the breeders and there animals up close. You can also sometimes barter. Reptile shows are so much fun.

Since you are thinking of getting this type of Rhac i would say GO FOR IT. They are so awesome! IMO they are the most intelligent and friendly. of the rhacs.

If you want more replies i would post this on the crested gecko (rhacodactylus) forum that is at the top of the forum page.
