Thats great! I wish my macro was half that good, whats the resolution on the photo?
Well, it's an 8 MP camera but the settings I am using are taking pics at about 6MP. It takes pics at 3264 X 2448 at that setting. The pic is cropped and reduced to 1200 pixels wide. The nice thing is that for most crotes I can either use the Macro settings for close-ups or just take the pics from about three feet away. Once cropped the overall detail looks pretty much the same in both pics. It's all taken a little getting used to. I learned that if I make a pic fill the frame, but then shrink it enough to be able to use on a forum, I lose so much DPI (dots per inch) that a great deal of detail is lost. But if I take the pic so that the snake is small in the center of the frame I can crop it down to forum size and not lose any DPI (just like shearing the edges away with scissors. So now I take a big pic for my purposes and then a little pic for forum purposes. The Macros are nice but it's taking me a little while to fully figure them out. The cerb in the post "my mom says I can't come out today" looks like a grown snake but it was actually a baby with a head about the size if my fingernail, taken from about three inches away.
Mine is 8mp too, I will have to play with it more and try your techniques, its got a macro on it but I think I am not using it correctly, time to read the book again. Keep the great pics coming, I never tire of seeing crotes in the wild.
Cheers

...Oh...you guys were comparing mega-pixels...my bad...
Seriously tho...does anyone "do head" w/ the clarity & detail of Mr G.....I dont think so!
Uh....I think :-P
Hes making me jealous, I think my camera is afraid of getting that close.
Cheers
