leopard not eating

specieschick Jul 13, 2003 07:52 PM

my leopard gecko has become very hesitant to eat. she will eat 1 mealworm, or two crickets at a time but only about every 3 or 4 days. i am worried that she might get sick. i am sure it is not due to lack of heat, because she is always warm when i take her out to eat. if anyone knows what may be causing this problem, i would appreciate their imput. thank you

Y do u take her out to eat? Where does she usually eat at? Have you changed anything about her cage latley? Aslong as she isnt losing any weight then there is no point to worry yet. If she eats 2-3 cricket 3 to 4 times a day that 6-12 of them and a few mealies that sounds ok. Sometimes they get tired of the same food too. So try something new if u can.

Impaction or parasites could be causing the loss of appetite, i would suggest that you get a fecal done. n/p

I dont think a fecal is necessary at all by now, so dont worry for now. Be sure that you give it enough heat, as you said you were doing. Also, is it a she or a he. Because if it's a she might be gravid and not eating that much. Anyway, every gecko is different and sometimes they stop eating for no reason, and then they start eating again.
