New Racer

kungfu2811 Jun 11, 2005 07:14 PM

Hey everyone, I found this girl about a week ago out in a field. These are some of the coolest snakes ive kept, and very colorful too!(she has a deep blue along her sides, much darker than these photos show)

Does anyone have some tips on breeding blue racers? I think id like to give it a try. I have experience with breeding other herps, so this is not totally new to me.

Thanks,
Andrew

Just read some of the previous posts, and I see that there have been other questions about breeding racers. So there is no need to answer that question.

How long does it take for these snakes to mature?

Thanks,
Andrew

If you want very reliable information on breeding racers, a recent issue of REPTILES magazine published a letter in the Ask The Breeder column about breeding black racers, but the same technique can be applied to blues too. It is the November 2004 issue by the way. As for your other quesiton, male racers mature at around 2 years and females are mature at the age of 3.
