13ft Guyana Female

madisonrecords Jun 11, 2005 09:15 PM

Not a very good photo of this animal, but all I have right now. This girl had 66 babies in 04 and I am in the process of maybe getting her. The only thing that is making me hold off, is the tail fungus on her top tail bands. She eats like a pig and has shown no signs of illness, but the tail problem will have to be taken care of. She has been in captivity for about 18mos. She would be a good addition " if the problem is cleared up " to some of my other big girls. I will try to post pics of my over 11 footer that weighs right at 80 pounds later. The 80 pounder is a nice looking girl and come out of the wild that size. Not a powerfed slob........Johnson Herp

For you skeptics, she really is 13ft long measured with a string. She lost some weight after dropping 66 monster babies, but she is truly 13ft. I am always the first one to laugh at these 10footers that are really 8 and 11 footers that are really 9ft, but she is the real deal.....Johnson Herp

She is definately ancient. Maybe you have seen the notorious " Killer " also? She is the huge 11 footer that Pete had, that everyone was afraid of and they kept her covered in the bottom cage. I have her now and she is awesome and has calmed down tremendously. She is not as long as the 13ft female but she is much bigger than the 13footer as far as overall size and girth. A little time and T.L.C. goes a long way with these animals and as soon as we can get the tail problem to react good to some ointment, I plan on getting her also.Big females like these, should have NEVER been brought out of the wild in the first place, but now that they are here, the only thing to do is give them a good home and let them try to live a somewhat peacefull exsistence........Johnson Herp

She sure is a biggie! I didn't know they still imported wildcaught boas. I guess I just figured that the market was already flooded with tonnes of captive bred breeders.

I have seen her befor. She is a big one for sure and the babies she had were awesome. Bummer about her tail fungus, It would be hard for me to seal the deal on her due to that. I'm still cant wait to see the huge girl you have. By the way I think I have some pictures of her litter and another photo of her I can email them to you if you want. let me know. Later

that would be great! The tail Fungus, is hard for me too swallow also, but if Pete will attack it with some ointment, it should heal up and not be a problem. We are going to see how it goes for the next few weeks and then make the final decision. This other big girl, is a picture of perfection and her overall mass puts her one of the top five biggest I have seen in almost 18yrs. Thye 13ft girl has not missed a meal in the last 18mos and shows no other signs of illness, but I have way to much time and love in my collection to risk it, without seeing some kind of improvement. On the other hand, that is what quarantine is for.......Johnson Herp

Great pics and Ya! Pete really hit pay-dirt on her. I hope that she will be here soon, but we will have to see what goes on with the tail problem. .......Johnson Herp

NO BEAUTY LIKE THE BEAUTY OF A TRUE REDTAIL !!

time and time again, that you do not have to have the best looking adults, to produce great looking babies. Especially, when it comes to color. The Peruvians that I produced in 99 were some of the best ever, and if the parents were put up for sale right now, nobody would even buy them. It is all about the right combination and in my opinion and based on what I have seen over the years with myself and others, you get better colored and washed babies, when you breed a dark washed animal to a light one, verses breeding a light to a light and you also will retain the nice bold markings. That is why, I do not bother posting my animals. Most would not give them a second look, BUT when I breed them and hopefully get some babies this fall, I think you will be surprised at the outcome.......Johnson Herp
