My chameleon is dying please help

keanenk Jun 12, 2005 10:06 AM

I have a one year old veiled chameleon that was really healthy and moved around all the time then the past couple days he has been hanging upside down on his vines and then yesterday he just fell and doesnt want to grab onto anything. I tried putting him in the big ficus in the sun and he just doesnt want to grab onto the branches. He is laying in a shoe box now with his mouth open, what can I dd for him?

Oh Im sorry. Its usually too late when you see symptoms like that, you really need to see a vet at the first sign of something wrong. You need to get another in the name of the late Finch. Sorry

I'm sorry about your cham. It sounds like he was choking... =(... could he have grabbed something that is not digestable? I would take him to the vet for a necropsy (sp?) to see what the real problem was... I would do this BEFORE getting another cham...
Also, double check all your set-up, temps, hydration, supplamenttion, etc. I would also suggest thoroughly disinfecting everything used with this cham (good idea in general to keep infections & bacteria to a minimum) if you will be using any of it with any other animal.
Sorry again about you cham...
