SDZ diet, without bone meal

bombine2001 Jun 12, 2005 12:16 PM

hey everyone! i'm a new tegu owner!! i just bought a 4 foot argentine black and white, he's like a big puppy. i've researched these guys for like 6 months now and just finally considered myself ready to own...anyway, i was interested in using the SDZ diet, but wanted to know if i could substitute bone meal, centrum for rep-cal/herptivite. if so, how much should i use? i would mix it with 5 pounds of the ground turkey meat. thanks!

Use the pink label rep-cal without phosfurus. 1 tablespoon per pound. if it is a red mix in 8oz per pound of strawberry or mango. You can still mix some in for B&W but only about half the amount

No you cant subtitute the bone meal.Rep cal and mineral all are not the same as bone meal.If you do this and make it the main staple for your tegu ,it will get MBD . Stella has told me about the countless phone calls she got from poeople doing this , and there tegus not living very long. Keep the formula exactly what its supposed to be.10lbe of turkey-90 grame of bone meal - two centrum muti vit. Take care Russ

thanks, i will keep it exactly the same except i'm gonna cut everything in half since i only have one tegu to feed. i'll do 5lbs turkey, 45 grams bone-meal and 1 centrum. i just bought the bone-meal at a health food store today so i'll mix it up tonight! thanks for the advice!

Oh crap dude. I'll have to switch to bone meal on my next batch. what is it that gives them mbd.
