Upgrading enclosure

7thscience Jun 12, 2005 01:28 PM

Im off for the 3 month summer and would like to upgrade my 30Lx18Hx12D glass "aquarium". I would like for it to look more natural, maybe live plants. I am assuming that this means more difficult monitoring, cleaning and extraction(I only feed outside the cage). Does anyone have any advice, opinion, recommended reading or other comments. This w/c black rat snake has been very forgiving, so I'm confident enough to at least try something.

As far as plants go, you can't go wrong with a philodendron pothos plant. These grow in anything damp. What I would do is go down to home depot and get some, and a new pot. then go down to the pet store and get a brick of ground coco husk. just cut off a part of the brick and soak in water. this wil be your dirt.

then go and pull the pothos out of the dirt and wash off the roots, replant in this coco husk stuff. they grow great in the coco husk.

i'd probably just put those in pots and use aspen, put some climbing sticks (3/4" wooden dowels, or pvc pipe)

ne more questoions lemme know
