Choosing a first tortoise?

Thera Jun 12, 2005 05:46 PM

ok, so I am trying to figure out what the best first pet tortoise would be. I want something that isn't too picky about humidity, as my reptile room currently is all arid loving species, I don't really want to ruin it for them. I want one that doens't get extremely huge. I also want one that is fairly easy to care for, a little challenge I think is fine as Im fairly experienced with other herps. I was thinking about a Herman's or a Greek tort. What do you all think?

Oh and I don't want a russian tort and I have experience caring and working with Bell's Hingeback, Greek, Leopard, and Russians at a petshop I worked at for about 5 years during college. Thanks

Herman and Greek are both usually good red foot are aslo real good as well. But get a little bigger. I also really like my eqyptians I find them really easy and stay small they are just a little pricey and not real easy to come by. Good Luck!
